All Roads Lead to More Immigration

In a piece done today by MSNBC we’re told we need more immigrants because there are 6.7 million job openings and only 6.4 million workers available to fill said jobs.  In another case of heads I win, tails you lose, it always leads to needing more immigrants.  Isn’t it funny how that works?  One of the reasons we’re told we need more immigrants is that the birth rate is declining.  Funny how these same feral leftists told us in the 1970s we need to have fewer children because it was bad for the environment.  Now we need more immigrants because of this.

Here’s an idea.  How about we raise the bar from off the ground where it currently is to get people off of welfare and into the labor force.  It’s more difficult to find recent data on this than you think, but around 35% of Americans received welfare in 2012.  Depending on how you look at the numbers, if you factor in additional benefits received from “non means-tested programs” the number is just under 50% of Americans receiving some sort of government assistance.  That’s a ridiculous number.  Part of this number includes food stamps, again another substantial portion of the population is receiving government handouts to feed themselves.

Clearly the absolute last thing we need is low skilled workers from other countries.  Something else the left has harped on about forever is raising wages.  As with everything else, they’ve cried about using the government to raise minimum wages.  Do you know what happens where demand is greater than supply?  Wages rise.  Crazy right?  Something else the video above mentions and you’ll hear is how a lot of the job openings are for skilled labor, a pool that would not benefit from people getting off welfare.  Again, with scarcity wages rise.  Heck, you might even get companies to sponsor training programs if they are desperate enough.

The bottom line is more immigration is not the answer.  President Trump wants to cut legal immigration in half and I fully support that.  Until we can get welfare under control (or even better abolish it altogether), improve infrastructure (when’s the last time you remarked that there weren’t enough cars on the road?) and secure our borders the last thing we need is more people here.
